Description:Rare "Game of Baseball" by McLoughlin c.1886. Early baseball themed game by the noted maker having beautifully illustrated game action scene on lid. Box (just under 9.5"x17.25") is constructed of wood at sides with heavy stock pressed paper board serving as top and bottom. Exterior displays chipping and wear throughout corners and edges (more accentuated at upper right) and central image portion mainly having some mild wear and touch of scattered surface residue. There is a small puncture to upper right. Housed inside are a game board, instruction booklet (covers separated, unknown if complete), unused scoring sheet, (1) spinner, and (9) of the small hand painted cast metal players (along with the base to another, player having broken off). Varying degrees of wear to contents. Heavy stock walls have been added (done with modern material) to the interior of the bottom which allow the lid to seat and remain in place when the box is closed: GD-VG with note to description
