Description:1867 Capital Base Ball Club silver trophy ball. Presentational ball done in metal is engraved, "Awarded by the Franklin County Agricultural Society, To The Capital B.B.C. Columbus O, for best playing, Sept. 14th 1867." Simulated stitching is likewise etched in the surface in similar fashion as one would find on an early belt style baseball. While specifics regarding both the Capital B.B.C. and the game they played that day are in short supply, the offered trophy ball remains immensely desirable as an early figural display piece related to the game in its' infancy.
