The youth of American look up to him as a shining example that a boy's idol should also be his ideal...we present this citation to Mickey Mantle, confident that he will continue deservedly to be the ideal of American Youth...June 21, 1953." The piece measures 10.5"x13.75" with some light toning (central portion more pronounced as edges used to be covered by matting) and a hint of wear. The Grand Street Boys Association can trace its' roots back to 1916 when a group of men who had grown up on or near Grand Street in Manhattan met for a reunion. They formally incorporated in 1921 and went to promote welfare projects, acts of fellowship and tolerance, scholarships, youth employment, war efforts, and the elimination of discrimination in sports.
