Description:President Herbert Hoover autographed baseball with possible attribution to his Inaugural MLB Opening Day Ceremonial First Pitch. Moderately toned and likely game used official American League baseball (E.Barnard c.1927-31) signed on a side panel by newly inaugurated President Herbert Hoover on a side panel. Black ink signature rates 7 out of 10. The ball is also signed by several members of the Philadelphia Athletics to include Wm. Gleason, Bing Miller, Jimmy Dykes, and Mickey Cochrane all of which have been enhanced at some point. Small period ink date of "1929" visible on a side panel lending corroborative support to the attribution of this particular baseball being used and signed on April 17, 1929. After several days of postponement due to a major rain storm the Washington Senators opened their 1929 season against the Philadelphia Athletics. In attendance on that date was the newly inaugurated President Herbert Hoover. Based on the scarcity of Hoover's signature on a baseball, presence of Athletics player signatures, and period date of "1929" it is fairly certain that the offered baseball may well have seen game action on that historic date. Includes full LOA from JSA (with note to enhancements to other signatures) and certificate of provenance from Geddy Lee: Ball: VG-EX, Hoover signature: NM
