Description: Significant football sculpture by John Rogers c.1890. Exceedingly rare piece of early football art by noted sculptor John Rogers of New York. Rogers work is noted for its' realism with relation to the medium used, his subjects incl. sports, Western America, and wildlife. The offered example is one of only a handful known to exist and is fully intact with no cracks or repairs. Statue had some surface paint flaking which the previous owner had touched in by a professional restorer and was done nicely although could be reversed if so desired.
