Description: Gene Upshaw NFL Players Association ring. Finely crafted 10k gold ring produced by Artcarved features attractive design elements including a football shaped NFL logo on the top encompassing two synthetic stones surrounded by the words "Players Association". The left shank features a football helmet bearing Upshaw's uniform number "63" in relief with his name "Upshaw" bannered above. The opposite shank features an intricate rendering of a football field with a football in the foreground in relief. Interior band is stamped "Artcarved 10k". The ring is a size 11.5 and shows moderate usage wear. As a player for the Oakland Raiders, honors came frequently for Upshaw. He was named first or second-team All-League or All-Conference 11 consecutive years, and he was selected to play in seven Pro Bowls. Upshaw was an integral part of the powerful offensive line that spawned the Raiders' lethal running attack of the 1970s. For 15 years, he was such a bedrock of the Oakland RaidersÆ offensive line that he became the first player used exclusively at guard to be voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In an extraordinary second act, Upshaw served for 25 years as leader of the players union through the tumult of a strike, the gambit of decertification, the victory of free agency, an explosion in player salaries and the debate over provisions for retired players. The offered ring has no documentable attribution to Upshaw, but has appropriate characteristics of a ring produced exclusively for NFL Players Associations officials: EX-MT
