Description: Unique Thurman Munson hand written speech notes from a celebrity roast c.1977. Munson's handwritten notations were scribbled on the back of a Munson photograph and used to deliver a speech at an event honoring his 1976 AL MVP award. The charity roast was given in Canton, Ohio and included numerous guests such as Reggie Jackson, George Steinbrenner, and Elston Howard. The handwriting on the reverse is instantly recognizable as having been penned by Munson and includes some interesting partial notations relating to his speech. They include, in part, "More gimmicks than Jimmy Carter...", "Worst gin player in the league...", "Played with you 5 years-didn't remember that either...", "Freshmen coach-played three games-ruined my career-shortstop...", and "Steinbrenner-Finley had popularity contest....". The lot includes a copy of a color photograph picturing Munson delivering the speech. Includes LOA from JSA (handwriting) and letter of provenance from Diana Munson: EX-MT
