Description: Unique New York Yankees Hall of Famer/Old Timers Day autographed catcher's mitt. Vintage blue MacGregor model GP catcher's mitt autographed by (21) players incl. Mantle, DiMaggio, Ford, Berra, B.Martin, E.Howard, G.McDougald, B.Dickey, P.Rizzuto, and Satchel Paige. The players have signed in an uncommon white ink, which displays boldly against the blue leather glove. Signatures range from 7-9 out of 10. The offered glove was one that Thurman Munson treasured very much. With many players of his era, and more notably in the game currently, there is an unfortunate lack of reverence for the great players of earlier times. One of Thurman's most endearing qualities, by contrast, was his respect for the game itself and for those who came before him. According to Diana Munson, Thurman would anxiously look forward to the famed Old Timers Day games played at Yankee Stadium each season. On one such occasion, Munson decided to approach the numerous players in attendance and had them personally sign the offered glove. It is truly a symbolic piece within the collection, demonstrating Thurman's appreciation and acute respect for the game that he so dearly loved. Exceptional grouping of vintage player signatures with unimprovable first source provenance acquired by Munson himself.
