Description: Significant Cecil Cole 1946 Newark Eagles Negro League World Championship ring. Incredible rarity presented to pitcher Cecil Cole as a member of the Negro League World Series Champion Newark Eagles in 1946. The 1946 Eagles team is regarded as one of the finest in Major League/Negro League history featuring HOF'ers Larry Doby, Monte Irvin, and Leon Day. After capturing the Negro National League pennant, the Eagles went on to defeat the mighty Kansas City Monarchs in the World Championship series. Cecil Cole was a pitcher for the 1946 Eagles with a record of 2-2. The offered ring originates from a direct descendant of Cecil Cole and is being offered for the first time publicly. The ring displays an intricately designed Eagle on the top with an inset solitaire diamond of approximately .45 carat weight. The diamond does have some wear incl. a moderately sized chip to one side. "Newark Eagles" lettering is found along the top and bottom of the center area. One side panel has raised lettering, "Negro World Champs 1946" with the other panel having "Pitcher" and "14" for Cole's player number along with a ball/glove graphic. Marked by "R.Johns Sun-Lite" mfg. on the interior ring band which is also inscribed, "Cecil Cole" in block lettering. Overall condition remains very fine with light general surface wear. Given the lack of financial support for the Negro Leagues during the period, individual awards and rings were infrequently given to players. First example of its type that we have handled with note to its rarity and great significance as a Negro League Championship player award piece. Includes letter of provenance from the Cole family: EX-MT

Estimated Price: ($15,000.00-$20,000.00)
