Description: 1938 Joe DiMaggio Philadelphia Sporting Writers trophy. Large 25" tall silverplated figural trophy presented to Joe DiMaggio for the Outstanding Athlete of 1937. The front of the trophy is inscribed to DiMaggio and dated January 13, 1938. Figural athlete finial is missing its left hand and the trophy overall has some moderate to heavy wear to the silver plating from age and handling. The interior rim of the lid has some undulation from handling and age. Includes a vintage photograph from the DiMaggio collection picturing Joe DiMaggio receiving the trophy together with Connie Mack, Mickey Cochrane, and Carl Hubbell: VG-EX
