Description: Joe DiMaggio related scrapbook c.1933. Significant vintage scrapbook with bound color paper covers measuring 11"x16" chronicles DiMaggio's first full season in professional baseball with the San Francisco Seals. Compiled by his sister Marie DiMaggio, the book includes various news articles and photos with several oversized illustrations, the majority of which relate to Joe's record setting Minor League baseball streak of 61 straight games with a base hit. The scrapbook contains some very rare and obscure articles and photos from regional San Francisco publications, many of which are likely unique surviving exemplars. Also included in the scrapbook are three exceedingly rare ticket stubs from games played on July 14th, 15th, and 16th during DiMaggio's 61 game hit streak. Tickets were issued for games played in San Francisco in which DiMaggio collected hit numbers 49, 50, and 51. The tickets are the first of their type with relation to the streak that we have encountered (other than Lot 1019). The pages themselves include numerous handwritten notations/dates of interest written by Marie such as the streak dates with significant occurrences. Fantastic rarity with unimprovable provenance relating to the inception of DiMaggio's career: Range VG-EX/MT
