Description: Significant 1878 Syracuse Stars correspondance with related engraving. Dated Sept. 8, 1878 handwritten letter penned by Syracuse Stars Secretary Robert Townsend and sent to National League President William Hulbert regarding the intent of Syracuse to apply for admission into the National League. In the letter Townsend writes that he regretted not entering the "League" earlier and looked forward to membership for the coming season. Signed by Townsend on back with some light foxing at fold lines: EX. Lot also includes a period engraving of the Syracuse team advertising an upcoming game. Players are identified under images incl.
