Description: Abner Doubleday framed display piece. Matted and framed relating to the man long credited (and later proved false) to have been the founder of American baseball. Features a Sept 27, 1890 handwritten letter from Doubleday to Col. John Nicholson regarding an invitation to reception signed, "Yours Very Truly Abner Doubleday". In addition to his baseball notoriety Doubleday served in the Civil War in various campaigns. Display measures 16"x18" with a repro. photo of the Doubleday baseball at the HOF in Cooperstown.
