Description: Babe Ruth auto. baseball bat c.1933. Louisville Slugger model 40BR signed in black fountain pen by Babe Ruth. Bat measures 35" long retaining strong trademark and fasc. auto. stampings. A three inch area to the right of the trademark was sanded down to allow Ruth to sign, signature has some age fading but remains legible rating 3-5 out of 10. This style of bat generally was awarded as contest prizes in the 1930's and is nearly identical (with exception of condition) to the NM example that sold for for $33,000.00 in our August 2001 auction.
