Description: Christy Mathewson Memorial Certificate issued by John F. Kennedy c.1962-63. Presentational certificate (8"x10") is done on heavy stock with gold embossed raised Presidential seal at the top. It was issued by President John F. Kennedy (with his facsimile signature at the bottom) as part of a program which he started in March of 1962. Text reads in part, "The United States of American honors the memory of Christopher Mathewson...in recognition of devoted and selfless consecration to the service of our country in the Armed Forces..." A desirable association piece given to the Mathewson Family. Little mentionable wear. Includes Mathewson Collection certificate of provenance: EX/MT-NM
