Description: 1949-50 Rocky Marciano ("Rocco Marchegiano") original boxing license (VG) Rare original boxing license of Rocky Marciano, considered to be one of the best Heavyweight Champions of all-time and the only undefeated champion in any weight class in the history of gloved boxing. The license which measures 3 X 5 is the only Marciano license that we have ever handled. Issued by his home state of Massachusetts before Marciano+s first Heavyweight Title, for the year August 15, 1949 through August 15, 1950 the license also boasts the distinction of being made out in Marciano+s -Real+ birth name, Rocco Marchegiano as well as his renowned ring name and lists other vital personal statistics as well as the name of Rocky+s Manager. Of historical significance, Marciano fought twice in Massachusetts under the auspice of this license leading up to his Championship challenge, defeating Pete Louthis and Gino Buonvino. Rocky Marciano went on to become Heavyweight World Champion when he earned a K.O. victory against +Jersey' Joe Walcott in September 1952; a title he successfully defended six times.
