Description: Unique c.1931 Philadelphia Athletics oversized figural elephant with (23) team member signatures - an outstanding and rare period A's display piece (see description) Figural elephant standing around 12" tall has "Worlds Champion A's" lettered on one side. It is likely that this piece adorned the table at a team function of possibly served as office decor for an executive. Throughout the surface are autographs of (23) team members however it appears that most have been traced over and several are likely secreterial. Those appearing on the piece incl. Jimmie Foxx (secreterial), Al Simmons (appears to be authentic and untraced), Lefty Grove (authentic and untraced), Mickey Cochrane (likely secreterial), Eddie Collins (traced/secreterial), Connie Mack (likely authentic, partially traced), Waite Hoyt (secreterial, traced), and others (most traced). All are done in fountain pen rating approx. 6 to 7/8 out of 10. The piece itself has some light surface toning and age related craquelure: see description ($1,000-$1,500)Final Bid: $1,065.00
