Combs, Durocher, Hoyt, and Collins are clubhouse signed. Sigs range from 4 (only two sigs) to 8 out of 10 with the majority grading 7 or better. Interestingly, the Ban Johnson ball dates to 1927, but includes its original Barnard AL box, which suggests that the ball must have been inadvertently placed in the box for 1928. The 1928 Yankees picked up where the legendary 1927 squad left off, capturing the AL pennant with 101 wins and sweeping the Cardinals in the World Series. One of the strongest condition exemplars of a 1928 Yankees team baseball that we have handled. See a Picture of this Item 710 Unique Ty Cobb dual autographed poster c.1955. Oversized 23"x30" color poster pictures Cobb in uniform leaning over a boy who is sliding into base. Amazingly, Cobb has signed the poster twice to legendary collector Jim Armstrong. The first signature is signed across Cobb's left shoulder, "To Jim Armstrong From Ty Cobb" in green ink rating 9/10 out of 10. The second signature is positioned just under the image of the boy and reads, "To My Friend Jim Armstrong From Ty Cobb 2/4/55" in green ink also rating 9/10 out of 10. The poster itself is notably rare as this series is more commonly seen in a calendar format. Overall condition of the poster is fairly strong, retaining excellent original color with some areas of surface creasing that do not affect the signatures. The bottom right corner appears to have some light moisture exposure with some creasing, and a small portion is adhered to the glass. Housed in a period white painted folk art style frame. See a Picture of this Item 745 Rare Eddie Waitkus 1950 Phila. Phillies World Series home jersey with related items. Eddie Waitkus played for (11) seasons with the Chicago Cubs and Phila. Phillies. He was a fairly good first baseman who ended with a career .285 batting average. Although his baseball career was certainly respectable, Waitkus will be forever remembered by the nearly fatal shooting that occurred in 1949 by a deranged fan. Some 35 years later, the story of Eddie Waitkus would serve as the inspiration for one of the greatest baseball motion pictures ever made, "The Natural". Offered is a beautiful cream color flannel shirt with red pinstripes retaining its original embroidered "Phillies" team name across the front and "4" on the back. "Waitkus" is chain stitched on strip tag inside the collar, while tail front has Wilson tag with size 42 and dry clean tags. The shirt exhibits appropriate light to moderate use with some light age toning and a tiny hole on the back: EX-MT. The lot also includes a hand written letter signed by Waitkus with excellent content including a reference to his shooting; several 1949 Chic. Matching pants also have a chain stitched strip tag with "Bat Boy 52" along with Wilson mfg. tagging.
