See a Picture of this Item 304 Final home plate from the Polo Grounds right field bullpen. Offered is the original home plate that once resided in the right field bullpen at the Polo Grounds stadium in New York. Vintage rubber plate is marked by the Seamless Rubber Co. on the end panel and retains its original surface with excellent patination. The plate was removed after the final game played at the Polo Grounds on Sept. 29, 1957. Right after the game ended, two young New York Giants fans elected to try for the home plate on the field. To their chagrin, a woman was already at the plate digging it out of the ground. The enterprising boys took off for the bullpens and ended up acquiring the offered plate. Interesting and historic piece of stadia from the hallowed Polo Grounds. Includes a letter of provenance from the gentleman who acquired the plate as a boy: EX ($5,000.00-$7,500.00) DNS
 
See a Picture of this Item 305 ***UPDATED LOT DESCRIPTION*** Important Forbes Field stadium arch c.1909. Incredible relic that was saved upon the demolition of Pittsburgh's Forbes Field. Part of the ornate exterior facade that surrounded the steel and concrete park, the terra cotta arch is formed by two sections of four pieces, each with heavily decorated floral panels flanking an interlocking "PAC" logo at both corners. "PAC" was the symbol for Pittsburgh Athletic Company. Each section measures 51” across the top and 37” along the side. Together, the two arches measure 102”x37” and weigh about 400 lbs. The arches were carefully broken at appropriate joints and fit together nicely if so desired. Overall condition is very fine with some obvious light chipping and a few areas of wear to the olive green paint. Incredibly, the arch retains a large portion of its original painted surface, which was one of the distinguishing traits of Forbes Field, which was decorated in various colors including green inset tiles and a red slate roof. The arch is being offered publicly for the first time since its removal from the demolition and is believed to be the only surviving intact example: EX ($10,000.00-$15,000.00) $17,000.00
