See a Picture of this Item 274 Rare set of sequential large format original photographs from the 1951 World Series picturing Mickey Mantle's injury. Group of three large format 11"x14" black and white images showing, in sequence, the famous play in which Mickey Mantle severely injured his knee while pursuing a fly ball. Joe DiMaggio is shown catching the ball and then attending to Mantle. Each photo is identified and dated on the reverse along with New York Times stamping. The play occurred on a fly ball hit by Willie Mays during which DiMaggio called off Mantle to make the play. As Mantle tried to slow down, his foot became lodged in the turf and his right knee collapsed.
