Scarce Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, and Mickey Mantle auto. baseball. Lightly toned Harridge AL ball c.1931-34 has been signed by the four greatest players in New York Yankee history. Ruth signed the sweet spot in black fountain pen and Gehrig on a side panel, also in black ink. Each signature has a small degree of age fading rating 6/7 out of 10. DiMaggio and Mantle signed the adjoining two side panels with each signature rating 8 out of 10. Based upon signature style and ink characteristics, we believe the latter signatures were obtained in the 1960's. No greater combination of Yankee players could have signed a baseball. The cumulative lifetime statistics of these four immortals read as if they were fiction: 31,323 at bats, 10,223 hits, 7,247 runs batted in, and a staggering 2,104 home runs. Although their statistics may be compiled, the countless memories they created cannot be measured in numbers. Includes LOA from James Spence Authentication: Ball: EX, Signatures: Range EX-NM |

Significant July 11, 1914 Babe Ruth first Major League game lineup card originating from the collection of HOF umpire Tommy Connolly. On July 11, 1914 Connolly, along with umpire O.Loughlin, presided over a game played between the Boston Red Sox and the Cleveland Naps at Fenway Park in Boston. The game was, for the most part, fairly insignificant save for the debut of a young pitcher by the name of George "Babe" Ruth. Ruth played in his first Major League game on this date departing with a no decision after six innings. Ruth surrendered only five hits and one run to the mighty Cleveland team whose lineup included Nap Lajoie and Joe Jackson. Ironically, on the offensive side of the ball, Ruth struck out in his first at bat. The lineup card itself is neatly penned in Connolly's hand, including positions, date, site, umpires (including a last name autograph of Connolly), and even the substitution of left fielder Duffy Lewis for Olaf Henriksen (misspelled 'Hendrickson' by Connolly). The Babe is simply listed as "Ruth-P." just above the name of the substitute Duffy. The size of the card is 4 1/4"x 4 1/2" with a single horizontal fold line. Given the impeccable provenance of the offered card and the mundane nature of Ruth's debut, the card is certainly unique and possibly one of the more significant lineup cards of its type extant. 1918 Boston Red Sox team auto. baseball attributed to the 1918 World Series. Toned B.Johnson AL baseball is signed by approx. (25) members of the World Champion Red Sox incl. Ruth, Barrow, Strunk, Mays, Schang, Jones, and Shean. The signature of Hack Miller appears to have some period enhancement to the ink. The signatures range from 1-5 out of 10. The Ruth signature is signed in the style of his early playing career and remains one of the strongest on the ball rating 3/4 out of 10. The sweet spot of the ball has a period ink inscription, "From ? , To Elmer, World Series 1918". The ball was originally obtained by a gentleman (pictured) who acquired it at the age of 7 while attending one of the 1918 World Series games. According to family history, the ball was used in game play. The 1918 Red Sox World Championship would end up being their last until the 2004 team finally broke the fabled Curse of the Bambino. 1918 Red Sox team signed baseballs are virtually non existent and to our knowledge the offered example is the first with World Series attribution to have become available to the public.
