Sepia tone image pictures the powerful American Giants team lined up on the field alongside the "S.O. Co. of El Segundo" white team matched in a interracial barnstorming game. Thousands of African American fans canvas the background awaiting game action. Attribution to the Chicago American Giants is made for several reasons inclusive of trademark "AG" initials on breast. Many players appear to resemble known Giants including Sam Crawford and most notably noted catcher Bruce Petway pictured in full catcher's gear. Image has some surface wrinkles and an abrasion at top center area but central image portion is very strong. 7"x35" laid down on acid free board, matted and framed as some areas on extreme borders have damage incl. chipping. Significant photograph from one of the most storied teams in Negro League history, due to size of players in the image and the scant details available about the history of this photograph we want to emphasize that we attribute this image to be the Chicago American Giants as such it is our opinion that this is the case.
