Rare clear shell helmet (with color/graphics under laminate) has a pair of "MacGregor" logos on the back noting model ("MH100") and size ("7 3/8"). Also applied on the back are player number "16" decals as worn by Jim Plunkett from 1971-75 (no other player again wore the number in the 1970s or 80s). Usage wear is particularly evident on the exterior with some scattered scuffs/scrapes to the shell. "Geodetic Suspension" interior padding is fully intact as are the facemask clips. The helmet appears to compare favorably to a number of images of Plunkett taken during the 1974 season. Classic white mesh jersey with screened on number 12 on front, back, and both shoulders. "Namath" sewn on nameplate remains affixed to the reverse. Proper Sand Knit tagging presents at the tail front denoting exclusive manufacture for New York Jets. The jersey exhibits very fine evident use and possesses numerous matching characteristics to Namath New York Jets jerseys of the era based on photographic comparison including sleeve cut, shoulder font, and back font. The font for the 2 on the front of the jersey does appear to vary from several Namath jerseys of the period leading MEARS Authentication to discern its use in a pre-season or perhaps practice game. Pair of matching New York Jets pants are included with the ensemble possessing proper Sand Knit/New York Jets tagging. There is an "R.White" nameplate across the back. "Russell Athletic" tag appears on the front tail noting size (48). Pants are likewise by Russell (medium, long). Nice usage and wash wear evident throughout and there are a few minor flaws which are the result of prior mounting within a framed display. White recorded (293) tackles (201 solo) and (32) sacks while playing for the Tennessee Vols and his (15) in 1983 remains a school record. His Senior season is regarded as one of the best efforts ever put forth by a pass rusher and for it he was a consensus All-American, the Southeast Conference's Player of the Year, and a finalist for the Lombardi Award.
