See a Picture of this Item 1003 Important Mel Ott single signed baseball with handwritten "Home Run 1933 World Series" home run attribution. Red and black stitched Spalding J.Heydler Official National League baseball has been signed "Melvin Ott" across the sweet spot. Fountain pen signature rates 6-6/7 out of 10. It is inscribed in his hand just off to the side, "First home run 1933 World Series." The inscription has been enhanced in blue ink with original fountain pen writing visible beneath quite possibly by Ott himself. The ball displays soiling and obvious use with some scattered surface wear. Under the leadership of Bill Terry the New York Giants would claim three National League Pennants in (10) years and won the World Series in 1933. It would be the only Championship team Mel Ott was a part of and he performed admirably hitting .389 with a pair of home runs. The offered ball is attributed to his first; a two-run blast in the first inning of Game #1. The offered baseball represents one of the most significant of its type with primary source documentation from a member of the vaunted 500 Home Run Club. Includes full LOA from JSA and letter of provenance from the Ott Family: Overall EX ($25,000-$50,000) DNS

See a Picture of this Item 1004 Significant 1929 Mel Ott single signed baseball with handwritten "42nd Homer" home run attribution. Red and black stitched Spalding J.Heydler Official National League baseball has been signed "Melvin Ott" across a side panel. It is inscribed in his hand on the opposite side, "42nd Homer Sept 24' 29." Both signature and inscription rate approx. 7-7/8 out of 10. The ball displays soiling and obvious use with some scattered surface wear. Ott was then twenty years old and had joined the Giants roster just three seasons earlier. At 5' 9" and (170) pounds he seemed an unlikely candidate to blossom into one of the National League's most feared power hitters but he would retire as its' first to hit the now benchmark level of (500) home runs. His (42) homeruns in 1929 proved to be a high watermark (he never again hit better than 38) but he would lead the N.L. a total of six times in his twenty-two year career. One of two home run attributed baseballs within the Ott Collection offering with special note to hand inscribed identification. Spectacular rarity as a milestone baseball with added desirability of a rare Mel Ott single signed example. Includes full LOA from JSA and letter of provenance from the Ott Family: Overall EX ($20,000-$30,000) DNS

Ott clouted his milestone 400th home run during the first game of a double header played against the Cincinnati Reds at the Polo Grounds in New York. The blast occurred in the third inning with one man aboard in the 17th season Ott had spent with the New York Giants.
