The piece weighs (47) pounds and stands 20" tall featuring a fine bronze casting by noted sculptor Daniel Schwartz. Affixed at front of the 6.5" square base is an engraved placard which reads, "Joe Theismann, NFL Man Of The Year, 1982." A hint of light wear is mentioned largely for accuracy. Riddell TAK-29 helmet in classic deep maroon Redskins color has white and yellow accent stripes and team logo decals applied to either side. Suspension interior is intact and there is water filled padding in the lower back. The number "7" is written inside in vintage black marker in two distinct places while a third has been partially covered by (1) of the (2) reconditioning/recertified labels which are affixed. These are dated 1979 and 1984 suggesting that this was a favored helmet of Theismann's and used for an extended portion of his time with the Redskins. Extensive usage wear is evident throughout with scuffing and scrapes to both the shell and facemask. Classic helmet from one of the iconic players of the 1980s era. See a Picture of this Item 337 Joe Theismann Notre Dame helmet c.1969-71 Wilson model F2000 helmet finished in classic Notre Dame gold color has a vintage "Theisman" name label affixed inside. Exceptional usage wear is evident throughout with scuffs and chipping to both the upper and underlying surfaces. Interior padding is fully intact. The helmet was clearly used for an extended period of time and some of the use characteristics compare favorably to images of Theismann which were taken in the period. Striking and instantly recognizable piece stands 16" tall with "Vince Lombardi Trophy" engraved just under the figural football at top. Below is a raised NFL logo shield and text reading "Super Bowl XXVII Champions, The Dallas Cowboys." On one side is the name "Robert Jones" and player number "55." There is some minor scattered handling wear to areas throughout which takes the form of surface abrasions. Green Bay Packers helmet by Riddell has the "Super Bowl XXXI" logo decal applied on back along with the "Pete" (Rozelle) decal. Velcro receiver mounts are affixed inside and the right ear pad is custom cut. Player number "4" is written in slightly faded black marker on the inside of the chinstrap band. The helmet displays some light wear and is presumed to have been prepared by the Packers as backup to that which Favre wore in the Super Bowl presenting in virtually identical visual appearance save for a few minimal construction details. It is certainly possible that the offered helmet was worn in run throughs, practices, or possibly even was reconditioned from a previous game helmet prepared for Brett in regular season.
