See a Picture of this Item 306 Frank Crosetti New York Yankees professional model home jersey c.1946-48. Rare pinstriped flannel jersey has the famed interlocking "NY" logo on left front chest. In the collar is a "Spalding" manufacturers tag along with size (42) and "Dry Clean Only" tags. Below is an embroidered strip tag reading "F Crosetti." Holes on the lower front and back tails of the jersey, similar to those found on other Yankees jerseys from this period, would have had a string tied through to help it remain tucked in. An outline of the "2" player number, which has been removed, can be seen on the back. Usage and wash wear are evident throughout along with some minor scattered stains. A rarely offered Yankees home jersey from an era in which they were a dominant force in the American League. Spalding F.Frick Official National League baseball has been signed across the sweetspot by Babe Ruth. All were on hand for the August 7, 1944 "Esquire All American Boy's Baseball Game", played at the Polo Grounds, which featured standout high school players from across the country. Divided into East and West teams, managed by Mel Ott and Connie Mack, the East prevailed behind by a masterful performance by Billy Pierce, who pitched six shutout innings. Pierce would go on to have a lengthy and noted career in the Major Leagues but always retained the ball from what was surely a pivotal moment in his formative years. Bomber style jacket with black wool body and leather sleeves has the Tigers gothic font "D" logo patch on front chest. The interior is lined in orange leather which is stamped in large block letter, "Bill Pierce 20." Only a small of portion of a no longer discernable manufacturer's tag remains in the collar along with size "44" flag tag. It appears that another tag was removed from the inside (near waistline, presumably done by the team in the period). In fine overall condition with typical/expected usage and wash wear along with some general age related wear. Photographs taken in the period show Pierce wearing the jacket as he slides across home plate in a pre-season game and several members of the team were wearing similar jackets on Opening Day in 1945. A rare jacket which can be definitively attributed to the Tigers noted World Championship season through ironclad ownership and photographic provenance. Louisville Slugger 125 model bat with Snider facsimile signature burned into the barrel measures 35" long and weighs 33.4oz. Model number "O16" has been factory stamped in the knob which has player number "28" written on in vintage marker. The bat is unused with surface wear/scuffing throughout. It has been signed by members of the 1964 San Francisco Giants however the surface wear has affected nearly all of the autographs. Among those which can be identified are Willie Mays, Gaylord Perry (unaffected by wear), Al Dark, and Juan Marichal. Cream colored flannel jersey with "Giants" team name lettered across the front has number "19" on back. "Billy Pierce" embroidered strip tag appears in the collar and an additional "1962" year tag is on front tail. Wilson manufacturer's tag above notes size, "44." Matching pants, likewise by Wilson (size 36), have "B Pierce" and "1962" embroidered strip tags in the waistband. In immaculate overall condition with a touch of light evident usage and wash wear. Retained by Pierce following the 1962 World Series and it compares favorably with the jersey he is shown wearing in an included press photo taken just prior to game (6) with opposing pitcher Whitey Ford. The original Horace Stoneham signed letter with which it was sent (included) reads in part, "It gives me a great deal of pleasure to present to you this money clip...The pennant expressed a wonderful team effort in which all who participated can be very proud..." See a Picture of this Item 400 Historic 1962 Candlestick Park pitching rubber from their National League Championship season. Important piece as removed from the noted San Francisco venue was used throughout the Giants Championship run and presented to Billy Pierce at the close of the season. Well used with expected soiling and visible wear. An engraved metal plate has been affixed to one side which lists Pierce's season record and opponents as well his World Series appearance on October 15th. In addition, there is a period notation written on underside of the rubber relaying the duration of use that is signed by (3) members of the grounds crew. Given season long installation we can presume that a host of notables likely spent time on the mound when this piece was installed including Sandy Koufax, Don Drysdale, and Warren Spahn. A rare and exceptionally well documented stadium piece. Handsomely displayed by means of a pair of wooden squares which have been attached at either end that sit in a pair of custom made wooden feet.
