A faint impression of the foil applied "Flame Tempered" marking next to centerbrand remains visible dating the time period of manufacture to 1933/34. The number "35" has been factory stamped in the knob which likely corresponds to the weight as opposed to length and no hash marks follow the number. This practice which has been documented on several other pro player bats incl. Gehrig, Dickey, and DiMaggio. Uncracked with light evident usage wear. Model number "G69" has been factory stamped into the knob. Though manufactured well after his playing career, it is essentially identical to Gehrig's favored model as he used throughout the 1930s. The offered bat has exceptional display qualities with mild visible useage wear and a repaired handle crack. Louisville Slugger bat with dash-dot-dash center brand displaying the “40-K” model number designation measures 33” long and weighs 35oz. A deeply impressed “J.Hans Wagner” facsimile signature appears in the barrel end. Also burned in is the “Kork Grip Patented Sep 15, 1914” text and the cork remains attached in a few areas on the handle. Strong usage and some age related wear includes a small piece of wood missing from the back of the barrel, some general pitting, a few chips to barrel and knob ends, and grain swelling.
