See a Picture of this Item 837 Important January 15, 1967 Curt Gowdy Super Bowl I broadcast "storyboard" sheets with related material. Pair of heavy stock sheets (approx. 10"x13.5") have been meticulously filled out on either side with detailed notes related to players on the Green Bay Packers and Kansas City Chiefs along with additional information used for color commentary. Prepared by Curt Gowdy for use during his landmark broadcast of the January 15, 1967 AFL-NFL Championship Game which was the first in a string of annual games which were re-christened "The Super Bowl" several years later. Conscientiously retained by an associate of Gowdy's whom understood their importance at the time, the sheets remain preserved in essentially the same state in which they left the broadcast booth, with some light scattered toning and wear to corners/edges. Included are a pre-printed (on both sides) press informational card, "NBC AFL" promotional publication, (3) 8"x10" vintage photographs showing Gowdy in broadcast booth (one of which he had signed on the back in ink rating 8 out of 10), image of the NBC broadcast team with players incl. The balance are minimally EX/MT with many NM-NM/MT ("as issued") examples mixed in. A Legendary Coach and iconic figure within the realm of Collegiate football, Paul "Bear" Bryant's career lasted (38) years including (25) storied seasons at the University of Alabama. Along the way the Crimson Tide collected (13) Conference Championships, (6) National Championships, and (323) wins which, at the time of his retirement in 1982, were good enough for a record. Trademark through all of those years was his distinctive attire. Tweed sportcoat, done in the style that became synonymous with Bryant, has a "Baldone" tag on the inside front pocket and another above which reads "Custom Tailored for Paul Bryant" tag above. Additional Union tag inside the pocket itself has "P.Bryant" typed on along with "10-72" production date. Matching pants have similarly marked Union tag affixed to back pocket. Usage and wash wear evident throughout with the pair remaining well preserved overall. Exceptionally well documented history can be traced through a typewritten statement from the Alabama booster whom aquired it directly from Bryant, photocopy of a letter to him from Bryant (thanking him for help in a Coaching drive), a 1980s newspaper article in which he is shown with the suit, and some other related paperwork. Red mesh jersey has player number "80" sewn on front, back, and sleeves with "Rice" nameplate on back. "Wilson" manufacturers tag on front tail has adjacent size "46" and "FS" flag tags. A piece of vintage trainers' tape applied to nameplate bears a period ink notation reading, "vs. Saints Monday Night Nov. 22, 1993." The numbers below display scuffing and discoloration and jersey has nice visible use overall. Rice put on outstanding display in the game scoring a pair of touchdowns to contribute to the 49ers (42-7) win. Originating from a former close business associate of Rice, with note to the game of origin and usage wear displayed, we would place the offered jersey within ranks of the finest to have entered the marketplace.
