Original "National Football League Standard Players Contract" as executed between Berry and the Baltimore Colts retaining his services for the 1966 season. Signed "Raymond E. Berry" on the player line with the team's Executive Vice President above. Ink signatures rate 8 out of 10, contract itself has fold lines from storage and a touch of other light wear. Berry was winding down his Hall of Fame career which included play on the Colts 1958 and 59 Championship teams, (6) Pro-Bowl selections, and a place within Baltimore folklore as one of those who came to define football in that City. Later named number (40) on The Sporting News list of the 100 Greatest Players of All-Time, his number has been retired by the Colts. Heavy paper stock gold bordered certificate has "Tony Dorsett" hand caligraphed in the recipient line with "University of Pittsburgh" noted below. As the text relays, he was recognized for "qualities of athletic excellence, self-discipline, team loyalty, and sportsmanship." It was Dorsett's second All-American selection and he would earn a third the following year topping off a now Legendary collegiate career. Wear includes scattered toning/discoloration and creases with some very minor tears with border edges (much of which has been covered by matting). Desirable honor is bestowed annually to the collegiate Player of The Year, as selected by a group of Division 1-A Coaches, by the Walter Camp Football Foundation. Past recipients have included a host of noteworthy players, most of whom have transitioned from college to wildly succesful NFL careers. Best known among this list are Barry Sanders, Marcus Allen, Bo Jackson, and Tony Dorsett. In 1976 Dorsett helped lead the University of Pittsburgh to a National Title winning the Heisman Trophy, Maxwell Award, and Walter Camp Award along the way. He is universally regarded as one of the greatest running backs in college football history having ended his Senior year (1976) as the all-time leader in rushing yards. Wooden plaque (10"x13") has a pair of gold colored metal plates affixed at front. The first bears a printed image of Walter Camp which is captioned "Father of the Great American Game of Football." See a Picture of this Item 638 Important 1977 Tony Dorsett UPI "NFC Rookie Of The Year" Award. Substantive presentational trophy has the year "1977" noted atop a crown which sits on the base. Carved wooden pillars at each of the four corners support an upper plinth on which is mounted a loving cup trophy having figural player finial. Inscribed brass placard affixed to the base, "UPI Rookie of the Year Tony Dorsett Dallas Cowboys". Trophy stands 19" tall presenting in superb original condition with minimal visible wear. Dorsett's success at the NFL level was to be expected as he entered the league on the heels of a record setting four year collegiate career at the University of Pittsburgh which included a season for the ages in 1976 culminating with the Heisman Trophy. Dorsett joined a talented Cowboys team in 1977 proving to be the final piece in leading the team, as a rookie, to a Super Bowl championship. He became the first player in history to win a college national championship and Super Bowl title in consecutive seasons. The offered award represents one of the more significant football related trophies to have entered the marketplace. Jersey retains its original "33" uniform numerals on front, back, and both shoulders with "Dorsett" lettering on back. Medalist/Sand Knit tag affixed to tail front . Jersey show appropriate light use and has been signed by Dorsett on the back in blue sharpie. The shirt was once displayed in a frame which has left areas of rubber style adhesive mostly around the perimeter area of front and back. This adhesive is removeable but it should be noted that it is very tedious. The jersey is accompanied by a large format color team photograph picturing Dorsett on the NFC Pro Bowl team which has has autographed, "Tony Dorsett Pro Bowl" in blue sharpie.
