Wilson tag and size 44 flag tag/dry clean tag remain affixed to the tail. There is a 3 inch slit on the top right shoulder. Based on style and player dating, we believe the shirt dates to the Phillies 1950 NL Championship season, although it could possibly date to the 1952 season. Very fine example. See a Picture of this Item 215 Rare Richie Ashburn professional model baseball glove c.1961-62 (Paul Hill Collection Provenance). Rawlings professional model TG15 baseball glove retaining its original Rawlings label on the back strap with interior stampings intact. The glove shows exceptional use throughout while remaining in original condition. The offered glove was obtained directly from Richie Ashburn by legendary hobbyist Paul Hill back in 1963. Ashburn had recently retired from baseball and was throwing batting practice for his former team , the Philadelphia Phillies, at which point Paul Hill was given the glove directly by Ashburn. This particular model glove was clearly used by Ashburn towards the end of his career and is corroborated by several vintage photographs picturing Ashburn wearing an identical (if not the actual glove itself) example. Particularly rare and desirable game glove from one of the more popular Phillies Hall of Fame players in team history. See a Picture of this Item 216 Scarce Robin Roberts professional model baseball glove c.1950s (Team Related Provenance) Rawlings Mort Cooper model glove retains its original manufacturer's labeling on exterior backstrap with interior stampings remaining visible. Strong overall use is evident throughout including wear to the interior pocket. Replaced lacing at top of glove fingers. Vintage "36" written in period black marker on thumb exterior. The offered glove originated from the personal collection of longtime Philadelphia Athletics and Phillies broadcaster Claude Haring. Robin Roberts was one of the more dominant pitchers of the 1950-1960s era. His durability and consistency are legendary remaining atop many of the Phillies franchise record lists and earning him election to the Baseball Hall of Fame. The glove also includes an 8"x10" black and white photo of Roberts pitching which pictures him wearing an identical Rawlings model glove with "Anchored" web stamping clearly visible. See a Picture of this Item 236 Fine Andy Seminick set of catcher's gear with 1950 World Series attribution. Exceptional and rare grouping of professional model game equipment with each piece including handwritten player direct documentation. Chest protector, shinguards, and mask are all by MacGregor and retain identifiable manufacturers markings and/or model numbers. The name "Seminick" is embroidered along one of the fabric straps of the chest protector; the first such piece of vintage equipment we have seen stitched in this manner. Strong usage wear evident throughout along with some general age wear. A chest protector strap has separated at one side and while unclear it is possible that a small leather flap and buckle are missing. Shinguards have a section of interior material cut away which was likely a period modification done by Seminick. Each piece includes a handwritten and signed letter (from Seminick dated 7/22/88) relating that he used them in the 1950 World Series. Also included are what appear to be a pair of vintage elbow pads (interior pads have hardened) which are vintage signed "Andy Seminick" in marker rating 8 out of 10. A cult hero within the Philadelphia area, Seminick was a key member of the fabled Whiz Kids and contributed a fine effort to their 1950 NL Pennant playing the 1950 World Series with a fractured ankle. Louisville Slugger 125 model U1 baseball bat with Bobby Wine facsimile signature burned into the barrel measures 35" long and weighs 33oz. Signed throughout, in the period, by all members of the Phillies whom were on field for Jim Bunning's June 21, 1964 Perfect Game including Bunning, Callison, Allen, Covington, Wine, Briggs, Taylor, Triandos, Rojas, and Manager Gene Mauch. In addition, Bunning has more recently signed and inscribed the game date. All are done in black marker rating 8-8/9 out of 10. Bat displays mild usage wear with impressed stitch marks and some scattered rack marks/streaks. A small hole, likely from prior display, has been drilled in knob. See a Picture of this Item 265 Significant October 1, 1970 Connie Mack Stadium last game attributed first base. Vintage rubber base displays strong usage wear and remains affixed to it's original metal anchor via a series of cloth straps. A letter of provenance relates the history of being obtained by a young man and his grandfather whom were in attendance for the last game played at the fabled Philadelphia venue. Upon entering the stadium the pair filled out an entry form for a contest which awarded game and venue related mementos. Results were published in the October 3, 1970 issue of the Philadelphia Inquirer and they won the "First Base Bag." The grandson was allowed to retain possession of the base until selling it in 1999. Originally opened as Shibe Park in 1909 the Stadium remained in operation for (6) decades hosting the Athletics and Phillies along with scores of numerous events both baseball related and otherwise. An outstanding early piece with exceptional provenance and the first of it's type we are aware of.
