Superb example from one of the original inductees into the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Succinct labeling period places the bat within the time frame of Sisler's legendary 1922 season in which he captured the Most Valuable Player Award wtih an astounding .420 batting average. Louisville Slugger 125 model bat measures 36" long and weighs 38.2 oz. Bat presents very nicely with original surface and evident use including ball marks, stitching impressions, and minor grain swelling. Louisville Slugger trademark stampings along with George Sisler facsimile signature stamp remain very bold. Very fine exemplar which based on dating, use, and visual appearance may well be among the finest of its type to have surfaced within the marketplace. See a Picture of this Item 205 1930 Lefty O'Doul signed Philadelphia Phillies player's contract. National League of Professional Baseball Clubs contract has been signed on the interior by Lefty O'Doul, team President William Baker, and owner Gerald Nugent. In addition, League President John Heydler has signed in appropriate area on the back which also bears a short handwritten note signed by Baker which transfers assignment to Brooklyn. All are done in period fountain pen rating 8 to 8/9 out of 10. Typical fold lines with mild toning and some other minor general wear. There is a small area of discoloration on back page which is semi-visible from the inside and a small tear is present within this section. A serious contention for future Hall of Fame Induction, O'Doul is noted as one of most successful Managers in Minor League history and played a vital role in introducing baseball to Japan. His (11) seasons as a player were spread among several teams but the two he spent in Philadelphia were far and away his best. Done in trademark green ink and signed at the close, "T.R.C." rating 8-8/9 out of 10. Written in response to a request that he not send back any fake signatures, the letter shows an unusually candid side of the man whom so many feared during his playing days. The bat was signed and inscribed by Doerr to a young fan who was ill in green ink just to the right of the center brand area, "To Bobby Green, Hoping you get well and play some ball soon, Best Wishes Bobby Doerr". Desirable grey flannel jersey with "Braves" team name and tomahawk logo across the front has the now retired "21" player number on back. "Spahn" embroidered strip tag is present in collar along with an "Horace Partridge" manufacturers label. Logo patch appears on left sleeve. The year "49" is noted in a swiss embroidered strip tag on front right tail. Oustanding representation dates the season in which Spahn won a League leading (21) games and touched off what would be an era of dominance in the National League. All told he won (20) or more games (13) times with (8) of those being seasons in which he finished atop the NL. Strong usage and wash wear evident throughout with a repaired tear to collar.
