Accompanied by the original mahogany presentational box which has "2004 World Champions" etched onto the glass top and an inset "World Series 04" logo at side. During the first two decades of the 20th century the Red Sox were an American League powerhouse winning baseball's first World Series in 1903 and four more by the conclusion of the 1918 season. The addition of Babe Ruth to their roster would have otherwise seemed to assure further victory but an ill conceived trade by owner Harry Frazee, whose interests lay more firmly rooted in other areas of endeavor, shifted him from Boston to New York in 1920. "The Curse" was born and try as they may, coming close several times, the Sox were unable to bring a Championship home to the city which has long embraced them. A wild card entrant into the 2004 post-season, some (86) years later, they made quick work of the ALDS setting up what was sure to be a dramatic ALCS against their rivals, the New York Yankees. As faithful fans had long become accustomed they watched their beloved team fall back by (3) games, a deficit that no other team in history had been able to overcome. In what would become an unprecedented run, the Sox rallied winning four in a row and earned the chance to "Reverse The Curse." The historic pace stood through the World Series and it was over in just (4) games; there was virtually no contest. The St. Louis Cardinals proved unable to match Boston in any facet of play. Eighty years of foreboding had come to an end and the city erupted. An estimated 3,000,000 fans lined the route of their Championship parade making it the largest gathering in the history of Boston. On April 11, 2005 the Red Sox presented team members and personnel with their rings and on hand were some of their most prominent former players. Given the stature of Johnny Pesky it is certain that the offered ring is the most important example awarded that day which has been offered publicly: NM ($50,000-$100,000) $60,000.00
