Gray flannel jersey has "Braves" team name lettered across the front in scripted logo font with player number "15" below which also appears on the back. Left sleeve bears an original screaming Indian patch. In the collar is a "MacGregor" manufacturer's tag noting the size "46." Additional MacGregor "Set 1 1967" tag is present on front inside tail above the wash tag. Usage and wash wear evident throughout. The 1967 season saw Torre playing in his 5th All-Star Game, the 4th in which he was the National League starting catcher. He appeared in a total of (9) by the time his playing days wound down and by then had won a Gold Glove (1965) and been named the 1971 NL MVP. His successful career as Manager of the New York Yankees through (4) World Series Championships has all but assured his future Induction into Baseball's Hall of Fame. Wooden placard bearing affixed cast bronze relief of a man with camera capturing the scene as a comet screams toward earth. Lettered within lower portion is "Sports Award, 1954 Gil Hodges Brooklyn Dodgers, New York Press Photographers Assn." Plaque, with crossed bats and ball accent at top, measures 9"x13.75" overall. Hodges enjoyed one of his greatest seasons in 1954 hitting a career high .304 with (42) home runs and appeared in his sixth of what would be eight All-Star Games. A mainstay on the Dodgers roster through their most memorable seasons he is fondly remembered as one of "the boys of summer." Fine rendering of Mullin's beloved character as originally published in the April 22, 1957 edition of the New York World Telegram and Sun. "The Bum" is shown with belongings packed up and a word bubble filled with song. It was just days before Walter O'Malley announced the Dodgers move across the country and as the song lyrics and street signs indicate no one was quite sure where the Dodgers would be playing in 1958. Signed at lower right in typical fashion, "Willard Mullin" and inscribed "To Tod & Phoebe With Love - 1957." Work appears to have light scattered wear with generally even toning. Framed for display to 22.75"x27" overall and includes period (1957) newspaper clipping showing it in print. Uncracked with strong usage wear evident throughout incl. visible ball and stitch marks and there is some grain swelling due to repeated ball contact. The bat is fresh to the hobby and was long treasured by a California native who obtained it in the period and believes it to have been used by Gilliam to hit the first home run (by a Dodger) in Dodgers Stadium.
