See a Picture of this Item 301 Rare 1969 Bill Mazeroski Pittsburgh Pirates professional model home jersey with matching 1968 pants. Classic Pirates cream color flannel vest style jersey as worn by Bill Mazeroski during the 1969 season. Jersey remains in outstanding original condition retaining its original "Pirates" team name across the front with #9 on both front and back. "Mazeroski 42 69" chain stitched onto the tail front along with Rawlings tag having size 42 indicator and "Set 1 1969" flag tag. The shirt exhibits heavy use including surface pilling along with some tattering to the yellow/black piping as commonly seen on Pirates jerseys of this era. Section of piping along the right armpit area is missing as well. Matching pants retain proper tagging on the interior waistband including "Mazeroski 35/36 24" chain stitched strip tag along with Rawlings tag and "Set 1 1968" flag tag. Pants show nice use while remaining in fine original condition. Inclusive of the few examples within the Mazeroski collection itself there have been but a handful of authentic vintage Bill Mazeroski game uniforms to have entered the marketplace and remain one of the more desired of Hall of Fame player jerseys from the era. Moderately toned Giles NL baseball with evident use as hit by Bill Mazeroski for a home run in the second game of a double header played against the Chicago Cubs to establish a single season record mark of 19 home runs by a Pirates second baseman. This eclipsed the previous mark of 18 home runs as set by George Grantham in 1930. Ball is inscribed and notated as such on two separate panels by Mazeroski. Printed photographic display piece issued as a supplement to the Pittsburgh Index, pictures a panoramic view of the opening game from the 1909 World Series at Pittsburgh. Overall size is 16"x41" framed with team panoramic images of the Tigers and Pirates positioned beneath the stadium view of Forbes Field. The series featured the matchup of Honus Wagner and Ty Cobb who had not previously played against each other. Image quality remains very fine with original fold lines having period tape reinforcement to the vertical joint lines. Giles National League baseball showing evident game use including surface soiling and impact marks. Written on a side panel in period ink, "Most Assists" by Bill Mazeroski to denote the newly set National League mark of 6,027 assists by a second baseman eclipsing the previous number of 6,026 by Hall of Famer Frank Frisch. The record was set during a game played between the Pirates and the Philadelphia Phillies on April 11, 1969 with a ground ball from Tony Taylor to Mazeroski in the top of the third inning. That record has since been broken by Joe Morgan but remains one the many elite defensive accomplishments of Mazeroski's career. Desirable original bronze/copper plated figural statues depicting a 1910 era batsman in a batting stance and pitcher in windup pose. The figurals retain a fine original patina with excellent detail and features. Important game glove as relates to the storied career of Clemente who is as revered today, both in Pittsburgh and throughout baseball, as when his famed number "21" roamed the outfield. Noted not only for his hitting (lifetime .307 avg. over 18 seasons culminating in his 3,000th in 1972) he displayed such prowess in the field that he was awarded (12) Gold Gloves. MacGregor KC2 model left handed glove displaying considerable usage and age wear has period "21" player identifier written on wrist strap. To the right are what letters remain from what was Clemente's name written on with "Ro" visible at start of first and "te" to end the last. "MacGregor" tag on wrist strap has largely faded but their company name and the model "KC" are prominent in the palm area. Areas of surface loss affect the outside as well as interior with additional age/usage wear throughout to include some broken webbing. Includes handwritten letter of provenance (in Spanish) relaying the details in which a teammate came to possess the glove while playing with Clemente in the Puerto Rican Leagues. Extremely rare style can not be dated definitively but likely was issued in the late 1930s and remains in very fine condition overall with light evident usage wear. "Phillies" team name appears scripted across the front in red on white felt offset by similarly colored trim at neck, waist, and sleeves. "Mitchell & Ness" manufacturer's tag sewn in collar with additional tag below removed (likely done when the jacket was issued by the team from one player to another - a common practice in the period). Player number "20" is sewn in the lower back in large block lettering. One of the most visually appealing pieces of Phillies team issued equipment from the era.
