On July 9, 1991 Ted Williams and Joe DiMaggio were honored at ceremonies held at the White House on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the historic 1941 season in which they both cemented their place in baseball history. Offered is the original Presidential Citation as awarded to Ted Williams by President Bush. Remaining in its original blue leather bound casing and signed at the bottom, "George Bush" in black marker rating 9/10 out of 10. The lot includes an extensive grouping of related materials to both the ceremony itself, and the 1991 MLB All-Star Game. The game was played in Toronto on the same evening as the ceremony and in turn, Williams, DiMaggio, and President Bush flew on Air Force One to the game. Lot also includes: Framed 20"x22" display containing a vintage typewritten copy of President Bush's speech from the ceremony signed by Williams in blue sharpie.
