His heart pounding saves out of the Phillies bullpen during the 1993 season were absolutely crucial to the team unexpectedly reaching the World Series. The end result, while not positive for Williams or the Phillies, was the second World Series walk off home run in Major League history as surrendered to Joe Carter of the Toronto Blue Jays. It is very much worth noting that Mitch Williams remains today one of the most loved Phillies players in franchise history and is to be admired for the extraordinary class in which he has handled his place in team history.
