Significant and highly desirable award trophy features a wooden base with applied brass placard that reads "OF - Vada Pinson 1961 The Sporting News National League All-Star Fielding Team." A figural metal baseball finished in gold sits atop the base with impressed year "1961" as does a Rawlings gold painted glove supported by a metal prong. A diamond shaped wooden piece at back features a brass baseball diamond with titling "Rawlings Gold Glove Award." In fine overall condition with some surface wear/pitting to baseball and several nicks to wooden portion. The offered award was presented to Pinson during what was arguably the finest all around season of his career with regard to both defensive and offensive production. He hit for a career high .343 leading the League in hits and helping the Reds to the World Series. Defensive contributions are always more difficult to quantify but as evidenced by the voting, Pinson had no equal during the 1961 season.
