Program issued for 1931 World Series game at Sportsman's Park has been signed on the cover by Ruth, McGraw, Nick Altrock and Bozeman Bulger. Pencil signatures rate 8-9 out of 10. Program itself shows moderate wear and light cover soiling. Cover has split and loosened at spine. Clean interior remains unscored with game notation at top of scoring grid page reading, "2nd game of series Philadelphia Oct. 2, 1931 Cardinals Win 2-0 Hallahan, Earnshaw/Wilson, Cochrane". The offered program was obtained by a young man who played in a St. Louis area men's baseball league in 1931. As a reward for winning his league championship, he and his fellow teammates were each issued an usher's pass for the 1931 World Series. He gained access to the press box prior to Game #2, where he encountered Babe Ruth, McGraw and the others and obtained their signatures. Large paper display sheet was signed during the final boxing match conducted at the Madison Square Garden (II) arena between Johnny Dundee and Sid Terris. The disputed fight (on points) marked the closing of the arena with Sergeant John F. Mullins of the "Fighting 6th" standing at center ring playing taps on a bugle after the final bell. The sheet measures 12"x20" titled at the top, "In at the Death Last Boxing Show in Madison Square Garden, New York City Johnny Dundee vs. Sid Ferris May 5, 1925. Autographs of prominent sportsmen who were present at the passing of the famous arena." Exceptional quality sterling silver handled trophy is titled across the front, "Northampton Hockey Trophy" and was presented by J.L. Filon. The front panel also features applied crossed hockey sticks, puck, and ice skates of exacting detail and craftsmanship. Reverse of the trophy is dated and inscribed to the winning team of the University of Md. and lists the team captain. Total height is 7 1/2" tall with repousse decor around the top rim and handles. The trophy remains in superb original condition and is marked on the bottom "Sterling" by "Hennegen, Bates, & Co." Red wool pullover jersey retains its original "Ramblers" team name across the front with #8 red on white circular patches on the sleeves. Large number "8" remains affixed to the back. Pearson mfg. tag is affixed inside the tail along with size 42 flag tag. The jersey was worn by Ramblers center Jerry Casey (#8) during the 1955 season. In September of 1956, Casey joined fellow Rambler teammate Rocky Ruckavina as a coach for the Univ. of Penn ice hockey team. As such, Casey had the Ramblers donate the 1955 jerseys to the Penn team for use in practice. The goalie for that team, Herb Tabak, received the offered jersey and it has remained in his possession until its current offering. Incredibly obscure and rare eight page booklet with content regarding several youth sports games including a page and illustration devoted to "Playing Ball". The game described is clearly one of the early New England games of ball that developed into baseball with text as follows, "Ah! This is my favorite game. This is an excellent amusement for boys. How eager all the little fellows appear. One of them stands ready to toss the ball, one to knock it, and two to run after it, if they fail to catch it." A small color tinted illustrative engraving is found at the top of the page with the text. Dated 1835 on the front cover as published by S.Babcock in New Haven, CT.
