Perhaps no other player surpassed the showmanship and popularity of New York Jets quarterback Joe Namath during the 1960-70s era. Namath became the face of the AFL during the mid to late 1960s era leading the Jets to the title in 1968 along with numerous individual honors. Most notably, Namath brashly guaranteed a victory for his NY Jets in Super Bowl III against the heavily favored Baltimore Colts and then delivered on his promise with a legendary victory.
