Description: 1867 Harvard BBC carte de visite. Simply pristine early image of the powerful Harvard nine incl. Hunnewell, Ames, and Sprague posed in a studio setting with several early baseball bats. The image and mount exhibit virtually no wear retaining stuuning original clarity. Harvard was among the elite of early organized teams in the 1860's and they won the coveted silver ball trophy in 1867 (trophy is visible on draped occasional table in center of image) which was awarded to the winning team of the New England championship series. The offered image originated from the collection of Mark Rucker and is featured on the cover of Base Ball Cartes authored by the same.2 1/2"x4 1/8": NM
