Description: Lot of three original sculpture studies used in the making of Honus Wagner statue c.1952. Lot consisting of sculpted clay studies relating to the bronze statue that was cast and erected near Forbes Field and now stands near Three Rivers Stadium. The offered group includes (2) clay bust statues(11" tall each) and one composite model (17" tall) of the finished monument. Each has some slight age damage and a few unifinished areas but retain a pleasing overall appeal. The statues were sculpted by artist Frank Vittor and are accompanied by a letter of provenance from Frank DeGasperi who worked under Vittor and obtained them from his widow after his death. Letter of provenance is matted and framed with color photo of the finished monument: Range VG-EX
