Description: 19th century professional baseball players team cabinet photograph and related single player cabinet photo c. 1890. Interesting albumen mounted photograph of (15) early professional players posed in street clothes in a studio setting. Players are identified on mount incl. Hoy, Burns, Lovett, McCarthy, Burdick, Shannon, and Taylor Shafer. In researching the image all of these players were with different teams and we could draw no conclusive theory on the relation in this image. Has complete vertical separation at center which could be reattached and has losses to bottom of mount and top rt. corner. Lot also includes a single player cabinet photo of Shafer on the 1890 Philadelphia team in uniform, has some age toning and lt. spotting. “Return to Taylor Shafer” written on back of team photo as these both originated from his collection: Team photo: PR, Single player photo: VG
