Description: Babe Ruth auto. softball and related photograph c. 1940’s. Great lot with impeccable provenance to consist of a light tan color Wilson softball signed, “To Hans Schueren From Babe Ruth”. Signature and salutation rate 6 out of 10 with some fading to last name of Ruth. Lot also includes a 4”x 6” sepia tone photo of Babe Ruth and the restaurant owner Jim Donahue signed,”Sincerely Babe Ruth”. Photo has some creasing and a few tears but signature remains bold grading 7/8 out of 10. Matted and framed archivally. Schueren worked at a Wayne,NJ restaurant where Ruth frequented often and had Babe sign both items on various encounters. Ruth commented to Schueren after signing the softball that “This is the first time I ever signed a grapefruit.” Accompanied by two detailed notarized letters of provenance from Hans Schuren’s son Robert: Ball: VG, Signature: VG-EX, Photo: GD, Signature: EX-MT
