Description: Significant Babe Ruth and Frank Baker auto. baseball c.1921. Cream color official J.C. O’Toole International League ball signed on side panel , “J.Frank Baker” and on another side panel, “Babe Ruth 59HR”. Ball has a few areas of toning but remains fairly clean overall. According to family history this ball was obtained in 1921 after the World Series as Baker and Ruth were traveling to Maryland where Baker resided and Ruth had family and friends. The two players were in a drinking establishment and signed the offered baseball, Baker rates 6 out of 10 due to some scuffing in last name. Ruth signature is very bold rating 8 out of 10 along with his incredible salutation of 59HR denoting his league leading and record setting total of 59 home runs in 1921. We have not previously encountered a baseball signed by Ruth with that home run total in his hand and easily ranks as one of the most desirable Ruth autographed items that we’ve handled. Obtained by a veteran hobbyist in 198 and is accompanied by a letter of provenance from him. Interesting combination baseball with the dead ball and lively league home run kings: EX
