Description: Spectacular Babe Ruth single signature baseball c.1940’s. We elected to begin our autograph portion of the auction with a special piece, the offered item is a William Harridge Official American League baseball that has been signed by Babe Ruth in bold blue ink on the sweet spot. The ball itself is near white to white with a minute line scuff near one of the seams as the only mentionable defect. The blue ink signature rates a 10 out of 10 and remains in its’ original state as signed over 50 years ago. The lot includes the original ball box which we can thank for many years of preservation given to the ball and signature. The ball was acquired on the set of the Babe Ruth Story in California and given by Claire Ruth to a United Artist publicist. It is being consigned by his family and will be accompanied by a detailed letter of provenance from the family along with a Letter of Authenticity from Michael Gutierrez. Many auction houses utilize descriptive terminology to praise marquee items without pause for real market comparison but we are confident in stating that this is the finest single signature Babe Ruth baseball to be sold at public auction given condition, provenance, and display qualities: Ball: NM/MT-MT, Signature: MT, Box: VG
