Description: Rare Bennie Bengough game worn 1950 Phila. Phillies World Series home uniform and accessories. Remarkably complete group acquired from the family of Bengough to include: Jersey with red pinstripes retaining orig. team name, #11 on back, Wilson tag in tail, and Bengough chain stitched in collar: EX-MT. Pants are matching white with red pinstripe and retain Wilson tagging along with Bengough chain stitched in waist: EX-MT. Red hat with white ‘P’ retains orig. form, Wilson tag, and has #11 written under brim: EX. Undershirt is white w/red trim and retains Wilson tag: EX. Red socks are unmarked: EX. Cleats are well used and tagged Brooks Athletic shoes: VG. Red belt w/leather trim: EX. Lot also includes Bengough’s warm up jacket which is red with two toned ‘P’ on breast retaining Wilson tag: EX-MT and his fungo bat which is a 37” L.Slugger 125 model with “Phillies” stamped on barrell: EX. Bengough played in the Major Leagues for 10 years including with the 1927 NY Yankees, in 1950 he was a coach for the legendary ‘Whiz Kids’ team from which era this uniform was worn. This is the first 1950 Phillies home uniform that we’ve encountered and coupled with the World Series provenance and number of pieces places this among the finest vintage uniforms that we’ve offered. Accompanied by a modern era black and white photograph of Bengough wearing the uniform while Robin Roberts looks on, 8”x10” framed.
