Description: Jerry Lucas 1960 Ohio State Western Conference Most Valuable Player award. Handsome figural basketball trophy was awarded to Jerry Lucas as a member of the Ohio State Buckeyes. Large basketball shaped brass plated body is positioned atop a painted black wooden base with an inscribed band, "Jerry Lucas Ohio State University The Most Valuable Player to his Team in the Western Conference Chicago Tribune Trophy 1960". The trophy remains in original condition with some patination to the metal surface and a few very minor surface indentations. Lucas is widely regarded as one of the greatest collegiate players in basketball history, having led the Buckeyes to the National Championship in 1960. He went on to a successful NBA career in which he was selected as the Rookie of the Year and eventually elected to the Hall of Fame as one of the NBA's 50 greatest players.
