Description: 1945-46 Cienfuegos Cuban baseball team photo with Martin Dihigo. 8"x10" image features the 1945-46 Cuban League Champion Cienfuegos team. In the 26 Cuban League Championships in which Cienfuegos participated, the team won five league titles between 1929 and 1961 including the 1945-46 season. The most famous player pictured in this image is Martin Dihigo (first player standing on right). Most historians consider Dihigo the greatest Cuban player of all time. He was an outstanding hitter and pitcher, and it is said that he could play every position on the field like an all-star. While in the United States, he spent his career entirely in the Negro Leagues, but he reached legendary status in Cuba and Mexico. His career numbers for the Cuban League are 107-56 as a pitcher with a .298 batting average. Dihigo has been inducted into five Baseball Halls of Fame: Cooperstown, Cuba, Mexico, Dominican Republic and Venezuela.
