Description: Rare 1944 Cleveland Buckeyes autographed baseball. Moderately toned baseball (faded stampings) is signed by (8) members of the Cleveland Buckeyes including Sam Jethroe, Archie Ware, Sam Brown, Alona Boone, Parnell Woods, Red Petway, and Eugene Bremer. Sigs range from 6-8 out of 10 with Bremer having added "Pitcher Cleveland Buckeyes 1944" notation. The Buckeyes were one of the more powerful teams of the 1940s era led by player/manager Quincy Trouppe. Negro League autographed baseballs of the 1920-40s period are notably rare and seldom offered to the collecting public. The offered ball originated from the personal collection of noted Civil Rights movement and Negro League photographer Ernest Withers: Ball: VG, Signatures: Range EX-NM
