Description: Birmingham Black Barons team photograph c.1943-44. Fine original sepia tone 6 3/4"x9 1/4" original photograph pictures the Negro American league Champion Black Barons posed in three rows in a stadium setting. Players are identified on the reverse incl. Radcliffe, Duckett, Wilson, Steele, Sampson, and Davis. Photo quality is superb with flawless clarity and contrast. The white borders of the photo have been trimmed which does not affect the image in any fashion. Stamped "News Photo, Louisville Defender" on the reverse and player names have been written in period ink. The Birmingham team was one of the more tenured of all Negro League franchises of the era operating from 1924 through 1950 and capturing three Negro American League pennants.
